Congratulations to Weld Re-9 Board of Education President Brian Fabrizius, on receiving the prestigious McGuffey Award from the Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB)!
The CASB McGuffey Award is awarded to a handful of school board members statewide who demonstrate committed and passionate service, going above and beyond to serve their community and school district. Brian was presented with his award at last night’s Board of Education meeting.
From CASB:
“Brian Fabrizius, representing District A in the Highland Re-9 School District and board president, is a deserving recipient of the McGuffey Award. A Highland High School graduate, Brian has demonstrated unwavering dedication to both the school district and the broader rural community. His deep understanding of district policy, school finance, and the unique values of the area have guided his experience. A strong advocate for youth, education, CTE, and athletics, Brian champions a well-rounded experience for all students. His commitment was especially evident in his efforts to support the construction of a new K-8 building to replace century-old facilities. Brian’s expertise in construction, coupled with his passion for education, has elevated opportunities and expectations for the Highland Huskies, making a lasting impact on generations to come. This district would not be where it is today without Brian’s leadership.”
From Board Treasurer/Secretary John Batka:
“Brian has gone above and beyond the last 8 years, but the last 4 years, 2 years especially, just the amount of hours he’s poured into that school [the new K-8 build] there. And my son, last year, asked if Brian worked for the school. The amount of time, the amount of heart and soul and that, it’s just pretty cool, Brian, so thank you.”
Thank you, Brian, for your years of service, heart, and vision.
