*Parent Teacher conferences: March 9th (5th only), March 10th (4th only), and March 11th -12th (K-5). Please click on the following link for direct access to the sign-up page: https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Highland_Elementary_School_6
If you miss the deadline to sign up online, you will need to contact the office to set up a conference. If you do not have internet access please contact the office as soon as possible so we can get you scheduled.
*Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS): In March/April our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will participate in CMAS testing. More information is going home Monday 3/2. Parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students always have the option to opt out of this testing. The opt out form MUST be signed and returned if you would like to opt your student out of testing. If we do not have the signed form, then your student WILL take CMAS. Testing takes approximately 8 hours for 3rd and 4th graders, and 12 hours for 5th graders. It is important for our planning purposes that if you want your student to opt out, you fill out the form and turn it in! If you want your student to test, there is no form to fill out.
*Art Show: Mrs. Gangestad and our students will have TONS of art work to show off during Parent Teacher conferences March 11-12th. Please head to the Art room and check it out! Come see Native American Inspired Art created by students!

Dear families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to build your child’s home library with new books they’ll dive into again and again. The easiest way to let your child shop the Fair independently is by creating an eWallet. It’s easy to set up and easy for others to add funds.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: Mar 9, 2026 through Mar 12, 2026
Location: Elementary School Library
Family Event schedule and location:
Student and Family Shopping: Wednesday March 11th from 3:30-7:30pm and Thursday March 12th from 3:30-7:30pm
Student only shopping: 7:50-8:15 On Tuesday the 10th, Wednesday the 11th and Thursday the 12th. There will also be availability to shop during recess those days.
Online Shopping: March 9th through March 22nd

More than ever, we need to get students reading. Studies prove* that children with more books at home have higher-level reading skills, and attain more years of education overall.
When you shop at our book fair every purchase benefits our school directly! We also provide the opportunity for you to contribute to your child's classroom libraries.

*Calling all KINDER and 5th GRADE families! We are preparing NOW for the end of year celebrations! Kindergarten Parents-We need YOU to send a baby picture of your student to the office! Make sure your student’s name is on the picture! 5th Grade Parents- Please also send in a kindergarten picture. All pictures will be returned! If you prefer to email your picture, please email to your classroom teacher! Deadline is Friday 3/6!
*From Music - Save the Date: Change of Date
3rd and 4th grade families: Please save the dates for upcoming music concerts!
- 3rd Grade: Thursday, March 5th, 6–7:00 PM
- 4th Grade: Thursday, April 2nd, 6–7:00 PM
These concerts will be held at the Highland High School Cafetorium. Students will need to arrive around 5:45 pm so they can warm up their voices! We will meet in the HS Band Room.

*Yearbook order forms: Please note that order forms are DUE 3/15. Due to product availability and shipping, this is a HARD deadline. Call the office if you have any questions!
*Yearbook Ad space: If you have a local business and are interested in advertising in our 25-26 school yearbook, please let us know! Spaces are available for as little as $10!
*Kindergarten Round Up: We have 2 options coming up for new Kindergarten families for Fall 2026 to choose to attend! We would appreciate it if you would RSVP by filling out the Kindergarten Orientation Sign Up. This helps ensure we have enough materials for everyone!
Our sessions are scheduled for:
-Tuesday 4/7 from 4:00-5:30 pm
-Tuesday 4/21 from 4:00-5:30 pm
You do not need to attend both, but please choose one! We have a lot of information to share, and people for you to meet!

*Medidas de éxito académico de Colorado (CMAS):En marzo/abril, nuestros estudiantes de 3.º, 4.º y 5.º grado participarán en las pruebas CMAS. Enviaremos más información a casa el lunes 2 de marzo. Los padres de estudiantes de 3.º, 4.º y 5.º grado siempre tienen la opción de no participar en estas pruebas. El formulario de exclusión debe firmarse y devolverse si desea que su estudiante no participe en las pruebas.Si no tenemos el formulario firmado, entonces su estudiante TOMARÁ CMAS.La evaluación dura aproximadamente 8 horas para los alumnos de 3.º y 4.º grado, y 12 horas para los de 5.º grado. Para nuestra planificación, es importante que, si desea que su estudiante no participe, complete el formulario y lo entregue.Si desea que su estudiante tome la prueba, no es necesario completar ningún formulario.
*Exposición de arte:La Sra. Gangestad y nuestros estudiantes tendrán muchísimas obras de arte para mostrar durante las reuniones de padres y maestros del 11 al 12 de marzo. ¡Visiten el salón de arte y échenle un vistazo! ¡Vengan a ver arte inspirado en los nativos americanos creado por estudiantes!

Queridas familias,
Prepárense: ¡la Feria del Libro Scholastic llega a nuestra escuela! Es una gran oportunidad para ampliar la biblioteca de su hijo con libros nuevos que disfrutará una y otra vez. La forma más fácil de que su hijo compre en la Feria por su cuenta es creando una billetera electrónica. Es fácil de configurar y permite que otros usuarios añadan fondos.
Aquí tienes todo lo que necesitas saber sobre la Feria del Libro:

Padres de kínder: ¡Necesitamos que envíen una foto de su hijo/a de bebé a la oficina! ¡Asegúrense de que el nombre de su hijo/a aparezca en la foto! Padres de 5.º grado: Por favor, envíen también una foto de kínder. ¡Todas las fotos serán devueltas! Si prefieren enviar su foto por correo electrónico, por favor, envíenla a la maestra de su clase.¡La fecha límite es el viernes 6/3!

Familias de 3er y 4to grado: ¡Guarden las fechas para los próximos conciertos de música!
- 3er grado:Jueves 5 de marzo, 18:00–19:00 horas

Estos conciertos se llevarán a cabo en la cafetería de la preparatoria Highland. Los estudiantes deben llegar alrededor de las 5:45 p. m. para que puedan calentar sus voces. Nos reuniremos en el salón de la banda de la preparatoria.
