Meet the Teacher!
Hello!
My name is Joslyn Sparks and I am thrilled to be teaching 7th and 8th grade Mathematics this year!
I have been with the Highland School District since I was hired in January of 2021, so this will be my 6th school year here! I graduated from University of Northern Colorado in December of 2020 with my bachelors in Mathematics with an emphasis on Secondary Education.
Mathematics has been a passion of mine for a long time and I decided I wanted to teach it when I was in high school. My mission as a math educator is to foster a learning environment where students feel free to explore both the content and their learning styles safely. My goal is to make mathematics more accessible and understandable for a larger number of students.
A little more about myself! I have been married to the love of my life for 2 years and we are expecting our first child in July 2025. As a result of this, you will likely not see me at the school until after my maternity leave is over, which is at the end of October. During this time, my classes will be taught by a substitute in whom you will contact should you need anything related to class. I have a Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix named Bandit, a Ball Python named Severus, and a Corn Snake named Rosie. I can often be found curled up with a good book, and my favorite foods are ice cream and pizza!
Should you need anything from me, please do not hesitate to reach out! I am here to help in any way that I can! I look forward to what this next school year has to bring!
Go Huskies!
