About Me!

Welcome to Highland Elementary! My name is Laurie Born, and I am proud to serve as your Assistant Principal.

This marks my 11th year at Highland—a community I love and am deeply honored to serve. I spent my first seven years here in the classroom as a 4th-grade teacher, where my passion for student growth and family partnerships truly took root. Driven by a desire to expand my impact and support our incredible teachers alongside our students, I went back to school to earn my administrative license.

Now entering my 4th year as Assistant Principal, my core philosophy is centered on the belief that every student belongs at Highland. I am here to support, encourage, and uplift our students and staff every single day, ensuring our school is a safe, welcoming space where every child can thrive. Strong school-home partnerships are essential to a child’s success.

Outside of school, I am a proud mom of two daughters, and in my free time, I love reading, baking, and crocheting. I look forward to another wonderful school year together!
