About Me!

Welcome to 6th-grade Language Arts, Modern Language Arts, and 7th-8th-grade Advanced Language Arts! I am embarking on my 42nd year of teaching, the last 27 of which have been in the Highland School District. I hope each student will find my classroom to be a welcoming place where both a challenging learning environment and laughter are found.

I received my undergraduate degree from Western State College of Colorado, where I majored in education and English and minored in Biology and Spanish. I earned my master's degree in gifted and talented education from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I have enjoyed teaching English, Spanish, speech, biology, drama, and leadership over the years, as well as working with gifted and talented students in various capacities. Additionally, I have been involved in coaching several sports, and currently enjoy keeping the home book stats for various Highland High School and Highland Middle School sports teams.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy catching up with my son, Blair: reading; traveling anywhere and everywhere (especially where time can be spent walking along a beach, listening to the waves); spending time with family and friends; going to the movies; taking long walks with my shichon, Cleopatra; and watching ALL sports, especially football (Go Denver!) and baseball (Go Rockies and Cubbies!).

I am looking forward to a successful school year where a love of learning and a sense of community are fostered.

Go Huskies!
