Custodian
Summary: The custodian is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining all areas of the facility by performing basic cleaning, sanitation, and minor maintenance of assigned building including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, trash removal, etc. The Events Custodian collaborates with staff and community members to coordinate and execute events to include setup, teardown, and cleanup. There may be some basic maintenance work that accompanies this position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Event set up and tear down for a variety of events such as sporting events, concerts, graduation, staff events.
- Participate in event to emergency situations during and after regular work hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Assist maintenance technician and assistants with responsibilities as needed
- Maintain and repair equipment associated with district buildings as needed
- Shipping and receiving operations as needed
- Small equipment operation (bobcat, mowers, lift, etc…)
- Light janitorial work as needed
- Groundskeeping, including snow removal, as needed
- Must follow safety standards along the lines of OSHA, health and safety regulations and procedures, i.e. safety equipment, safety glasses, gloves, dust masks, etc.
- Standard and acceptable shop procedures; proper operation, care and repair of tools and equipment.
- Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records. Including testing of equipment.
- Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary.
- Prioritize work and schedule work; meet schedules and timelines.
- Ability to initiate and complete work orders, including notes in the descriptions for every work order.
- Required to follow a maintenance standard timeline for job completion.
- Work independently or with a small crew depending on the size of a project.
- Communicate with district staff, both site and department, regarding upcoming and ongoing projects; prepare work orders as necessary.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of gaining information required for job skills.
- Communicating a respectful atmosphere to visitors, staff, community members that focuses on quality customer service.
- Serve as a positive role model for students and in how to conduct themselves as citizens and responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Work environment subject to constant interruptions, fast paced environment and high level of activity.
- Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
- Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
- Assist in promoting the safety, health and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds.
- Clean work sites, including hauling debris and trash to the dumpster, cleaning tools and equipment and ensuring tools, materials and equipment are stored properly.
- Drive a district vehicle to various work sites and maintain assigned vehicle tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in a safe operating condition, while abiding by state driving laws and regulations.
- Any and all other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous custodial experience preferred, but not required
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
The starting salary range for this position is $16.00-$17.50 per hour depending on previous maintenance/custodial/event setup experience. Please see the Classified Salary Schedule on the district website, weldre9.org under “Work for Weld Re-9.” The district provides a PERA retirement plan, long-term disability, an optional supplemental 401(k) plan, and the ability to enroll in supplemental insurances and savings accounts through a third-party vendor. Weld RE-9 offers sick leave and personal leave. This position receives 10 days of vacation time per year after the first year of employment, and 15 days per year after 10 years of employment. Maintenance staff receive free cafeteria meals.

Service Worker
Summary: Food service workers are responsible for preparing and serving school meals, while complying with Health Department food-safety standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. This position assists with all aspects of production and service including cooking, line setup, replenishment, and operating the point of sale system. Food service workers clean all food preparation and service areas, kitchen equipment, surfaces, and floors. Finally, food service workers provide exceptional customer service skills to students, staff, parents, and visitors.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepares and serves meals in a school cafeteria
- Provides excellent customer service to all students, staff, parents, and visitors with a positive and professional attitude
- Follows menu instructions and portion sizes, and adjusts based on student count
- Adheres to all Health Department guidelines to ensure food safety
- Records and maintains food and equipment temperature logs
- Participates and maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen
- Assists in stocking storage areas with food and non-food supplies
- Any and all other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred
- Previous food service experience is preferred, but not required
- Criminal background check

Substitute Teachers
Primary Responsibilities:
Substitutes are tasked with filling in for teachers and other staff members, working directly with students.
Requirements:
A substitute teaching license issued by Colorado Department of Education is required.

Classified (non-licensed) Substitutes
Primary Responsibilities:
Classified substitutes are tasked with filling in for classified staff members, such as food service workers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, and/or bus drivers.
Requirements:
A CDL and bus driver training is required for bus driver substitutes.
Experience in food service, education, paraprofessional, or secretarial/office work is preferred, but not required for other positions.
Salary and Benefits:
Classified substitute pay is $15.25 per hour with the exception of substitute bus drivers, which are paid $18.00 per hour. Substitutes are enrolled in a PERA retirement plan, earn 1 hour of paid leave accrual for every 30 hours worked, and receive free cafeteria meals.
