Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Rebecca Combs
This is the beginning of my 18th year at Highland Elementary. I have two grown sons. My oldest son is in medical school and my youngest son is a 5th grade teacher. I also have two grandsons. My husband and I own a small hobby farm where we raise donkeys, goats, chickens, cats and dogs. We also keep bees and grow a large garden. I have a Bachelors of History degree from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, a Masters in Linguistically Diverse Education from the University of New Mexico and a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College.
I love working with language structures and have a passion for linguistics. In my position I get to work with students in all grade levels and at all levels of language development. One of the best things about my job is watching students grow and mature as they gain confidence with English and develop their academic skills. As a teacher I am continually looking for ways to improve and engage my students in their learning. It is very important to me that all my students feel they are valued, important and capable both as learners and as individuals.
