Dear Weld Re-9 Families, Staff, Students, and Community,

We’re excited to share that the Weld Re-9 Board of Education has offered the position of Superintendent to Andy Lavier. We have started the process of negotiating the terms of the Superintendent contract with Mr. Lavier. The decision was made at a special board meeting after a busy couple of days — a meet and greet on Monday and interviews with the Board, administrators, teachers, and community members on Tuesday.

At this time, we’d like to give a huge thank you to Karen Trusler for stepping in as interim superintendent, helping us finish the year strong, and for her guidance and expertise throughout this process. Her leadership has been invaluable, and we’re so grateful for her support.

We also really appreciate everyone who gave their time giving tours, sharing feedback, attending events, and helping with the interviews — your input made a big difference, and was an integral part of our decision.

Finally, we want to give a big thank you to Dr. Zila of McPherson & Jacobsen, LLC for helping us through this process.

We’re thrilled to have Mr. Lavier join the Weld Re-9 family and can’t wait to see the great things we’ll accomplish together.

Thank you for your continued support — we’re looking forward to an exciting future!

Sincerely,

Weld Re-9 Board of Education

Andy Lavier

His leadership in professional development and teacher coaching has helped create engaging and supportive learning environments across all grade levels.

Andy previously taught high school social studies for 17 years and has coached youth, middle school, and high school sports teams. An active member of his community, he has served on the Colorado Commissioner of Education’s Rural Education Council and has led district-wide initiatives focused on post-secondary readiness, safety improvements, and staff development. His leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a student-first approach, ensuring that the schools he serves continue to thrive as centers of opportunity for students, educators, and the broader community.
