Elementary School Special Education Teacher

Summary: Elementary School Special Education Teachers are responsible for instructing students in an elementary school. They create lesson plans and a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. Additionally, Special Education Teachers are responsible for monitoring, planning, direction, and revision of student’s Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
- Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities in whole group, small group and 1:1 situations
- Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
- Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
- Utilize various curriculum resources.
- Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
- Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions.
- Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
- Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Prepare and distribute required reports.
- Observe and evaluate student's performance.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
- Maintain grade books.
- Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
- Create projects designed to enhance lectures.
- Develop incentives to keep participants in class.
- Communicate students’ progress, and needs with parents/guardians and other staff as needed.
- Planning literacy and math curriculum and instruction
- Monitor, plan, direct, and revise IEPs as well as participate in IEP meetings
- Any and all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a Special Education Generalist teaching certification is preferred.
- Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a Colorado Teaching License. The Weld Re-9 School District is considers and advises candidates pursuing or considering alternative pathways to the classroom.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is $49,250-$64,750 per year depending on education, years of teaching experience, and professional development credits. This amount will be prorated depending on start date relative to the number of contract days left in the school year (for example, with a start date of November 17, there would be 112 (of 184) contract days remaining in the 2025-2026 school year, so the prorated salary range would be $29,978.26-$39,413.04 for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. Significant Support Needs Paraprofessional

SSN Health Tech
Summary: Severe Needs Paraprofessionals are responsible for working in a team environment in the Severe Support Needs room to assist the teacher in providing educational experiences and support to students. This position may include duties related to the care of students, which may require lifting, assisting with toileting, and assisting with medical tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide instructional assistance to special education students
- Monitor and evaluate student progress
- Assisting students in a special education classroom
- Participate as a classified staff member within the building
- Participate in all aspects of special education students schooling experience
- Responsible for providing a safe educational environment
- Participant in implementing students’ Individual Education Plans and behavior plans
- Assist students with personal care, self-advocacy and in getting to and from bus stops, restrooms, lunchrooms, etc. Assist students with personal health and hygiene, including spoon feeding, tube feeding, toileting, catheterization, suctioning, delivery of oxygen or other medications and diapering. Perform all medical procedures delegated by the school nurse. Lift, transfer, or push students in wheelchairs. Use alternative language techniques such as sign language or voice activated computer systems when needed.
- Assist staff with recording student health information for daily communication between school and family.
- Coordinate student health needs between teachers, nurses, and parents. Assist the classroom and health services staff to meet Individual Education Plans (IEP) and health care plans. Provide emergency and routine health care and/or first aid, administer medications adhering to District and state procedures, and perform delegated medical procedures.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with middle school age students preferred, but not required
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred, but not required
- Applicant must demonstrate a great deal of patience and empathy
- Medication administration and medical procedure training required and provided upon hire

Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary range is $17.25-$18.75 per hour, depending on years of relevant experience. Summary: The Director of Transportation is responsible for developing and maintaining a safe and efficient transportation system that allows students the option to take full advantage of educational opportunities offered through curricular and extra-curricular activities. This position supervises the comprehensive operation of fleet maintenance and pupil transportation, including training and supervision of all transportation employees. The Director of Transportation oversees the department budget and vehicle procurement and ensures compliance with District policies and all applicable state and federal regulations. Finally, the Director of Transportation investigates all accidents involving district vehicles, provides appropriate emergency responses, develops accident prevention strategies, and addresses concerns from parents and the community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, mentor, coach and conduct evaluations of Transportation Staff, coaches, and student workers
- Oversee the District's transportation fleet, including buses, trucks, and automobiles for safety, effectiveness, and efficiency for students, staff, and community.
- Responsible for maintaining and monitoring compliance with District policies and state and federal regulations as they relate to transportation
- Manage budgets for all funds associated with transportation operations, including vehicle replacement, vehicle maintenance, extracurricular transportation, and fuel.
- Develop recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on future enrollment projections, boundary changes and new school construction, including vehicle replacement needs paired with growth demands
- Coordinate the training and safety program for all vehicle operators and oversee the training of new operators applying for their Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL). Provide and/or coordinate staff training and professional development.
- Mediate conflict resolution.
- Promote a productive department environment by recognizing and solving problems and encouraging teamwork, creativity, and understanding.
- Direct the operation of a comprehensive safety inspection program for district vehicles.
- Assure that all vehicles comply with federal and state mechanical, emissions, and inspection standards.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on new technology as it relates to alternative fuel vehicles and industry best practices for student safety and fleet efficiencies.
- Work collaboratively with the Superintendent in the development of procedures and recommendations for school delays and or closures during emergencies and/or inclement weather.
- Coordinate with district administrators, departments, intergovernmental agencies, first responders, and community partners as it relates to crisis response.
- Investigate all accidents involving district vehicles, provide appropriate emergency response, and develop accident prevention strategies.
- Respond to departmental inquiries and address concerns from district staff, parents, and the community regarding student discipline, routes, and vehicle operator performance.
- State reporting to the Colorado Department of Education
- Drive bus routes and activity trips, as needed
- Any and all other duties, as needed and assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Five or more years of experience in fleet management, supervising, and/or transporting students is preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written and oral format and have basic technology proficiency
- Valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License
- First Aid/CPR certification (training provided upon hire)
- Possess or be able to obtain a CDE Driver Trainer Endorsement
- Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $68,000-80,000 per year, depending on education and direct experience. Part-Time Transportation Monitor

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for monitoring elementary students waiting for the school bus.
Duties:
- Unlock Middle School gym by 7:25 AM daily
- Monitor K-5 students as they play
- Deal with occasional sick students
- Handle minor injuries (i.e. scrapes)
- Enforce rules of the gym
- Help students line up and get on the bus
- Lock up the Middle School gym once all students are on the bus, generally by 8:00 AM
- Fingerprints are required for this position
Salary and Benefits: Hourly rate is $14.81 per hour. This position accrues sick leave at the rate of 1 hour earned for every 30 hours worked. The district also provides long term disability and a PERA defined benefit retirement plan, with the option to sign up for an additional 401k plan.

Substitutes are tasked with filling in for teachers and other staff members, working directly with students.
Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:
Classified substitutes are tasked with filling in for classified staff members, such as food service workers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, and/or bus drivers.
Requirements:
A CDL and bus driver training is required for bus driver substitutes.
Experience in food service, education, paraprofessional, or secretarial/office work is preferred, but not required for other positions.
Salary and Benefits:
Classified substitute pay is $15.25 per hour with the exception of substitute bus drivers, which are paid $18.00 per hour. Substitutes are enrolled in a PERA retirement plan, earn 1 hour of paid leave accrual for every 30 hours worked, and receive free cafeteria meals.
